Looking for advice on finally ditching very expensive Direct TV with hundreds of channels I DON'T watch.
Has to be done from the Roku home page on the web.
I have a Roku 3 and have been pretty happy with it. But, I have to say, Kodi pretty much blows it away, albeit with higher complexity.
Kodi “builds” (pre-configured installs of Kodi) can pretty much handle the complexity issue for you, though. Search Youtube for “Kodi build”, sort by date and watch a few of the more recent vids. Before you know it Youtube will be recommending new Kodi videos left and right, as new Kodi related stuff appears just about every day.

Here are 2 ROKU channels that will give many many shows to watch for free: XTV and Channel Pear
XTV

Channel Pear

After you add the channels you want you go to Roku> Settings> System> System update. Once updated you press the Home button on the Roku remote and you will see the new channels. You can move the icons in the order you want by highlighting them then pressing the ‘*’ button and you will see the option to ‘Move channel’. Press the OK button on the remote then use the arrow buttons on the remote. Press the OK button when done.
Channel Pear - create a login account so you can add channels.
Free accounts have a maximum of 5 media sources at one time in your Library at any one time. Remove some at their website and add others.
Go to ‘Help’> Roku to pair up the Roku box so it sees what you select.
Click on ‘Library’ along the top to see what you do have.

Go to ‘MediaDB’ along the top and click say ‘Most Popular’
You can right and open in a new tab or just click on the channel to add.

For Top Gear get the Channel Pear channel and add the Top Gear show. They are playing the earliest ones now.
See last post on how to.
I think that’s for new customers though. Not for pre-existing customers. . . correct me if I’m wrong.
Thank you, MB! Just added Pear and am going to check it out now!

This channelpear FNC/Business/Sports streams flawlessly... it’s like another XTV. Bit more complicated to set up, see MB’s explicit directions.
Thanks TH. Instructions found googling channel pear and how to set up with ROKU. Will hand this over to DH who set up the XTV for us. He’s excited now :-) - been missing Fox business.
Fingers crossed it performs well. A real shame X-TV has had so many problems of late.
Been watching FNC all day with exactly one 5sec hiccup. You only get 5 channels at a time with pear, but HBO and the Fox fleet is all I need from them. Pleased as punch.
Jane, suggest you ask google “how to install XTV on Roku
You Tube as several videos which include several different Roku models (plus the text version elsewhere)
