"the military has begun to lose its fighting spirit and forgotten its heritage and history."
That won't be the case in Michigan. 2017 marks the first 100 years of Selfridge Air National Guard Base (Selfridge Field, Selfridge Air Force Base). There is a real chance that the A-10's of the 107th Fighter Squadron will be replaced by the F-35 Lightning by 2022. An Open House and Air Show to commemorate SANGB's 100th year is scheduled for August 19-20, 2017 and the excitement is already starting to build as the inauguration of the new Commander-In-Chief is also just around the corner. Selfridge Air National Guard Base is the third oldest military airfield in the United States with Langley and Wright-Patterson AFB's being just a little bit older. There will be no shortage of fighting spirit and appreciation for our military heritage and history here in the great state of Michigan.

Excellent article. And exactly on target.

Offer better incentives, better pay and housing and healthcare, and higher enlistment standards.
