I sold a rental property. Large capital gains. What does being a retired federal employee have to do with it?
Now that the entire compensation structure is out of balance, it is set up to attract more people to government instead of the private sector. Government employees dont produce, they consume. That is my point and that is why I used the term parasites. If it continues, the host will die.
Even a dead host will require government employees including the military.
Well, a workman is worthy of his wages. Whether or not he’s being overpaid, is another issue. (Not saying you were overpaid; I have no way of knowing that). And, yes, it’s true, life is not fair. That some should work their fingers to the bone, yet be paid far less than some who have worked a much easier job, relatively speaking, is a fact of life. I used to hear teachers complaining that grocery clerks and factory machinists were paid far more than they, even though their job of educating children, was much more important. (The only teachers who can say that now, are some private school teachers) I was a nurse. I worked much harder than some doctors, but obviously, they made 10-20 times what I did. By the same token, I’ve had patients who worked twice as hard as I, at half the pay. The same Book that tells me, “a workman is worthy of his wages”, also tells me of the man who received the same pay for one hour’s work, as those who worked all day, and that who am I to question it? I suspect our Lord, in that case, was referring to those of us who are received into Glory, by the skin of our teeth, just as those who worshipped and obeyed faithfully for many years, are received. No, life is not fair. But, then, THIS life, no matter how much money you make, isn’t worth a hill of beans, when compared to Glory. As the Book tells the rich man in hell, “ You’ve had your reward”. (Just musing; not trying to equate you with that man).
