Just by reading the reviews of his book you can see what a gentle man he really was.
His MASH character was not too far off from real life.
Me, too.
The Korean war was not the “Forgotten war”, it was the “Forgotten Victory” the next victory after the Berlin Airlift of the cold war. Leftists will never let a victory go untarnished. They must diminish them anyway they can. I for one an sick of it.
Leviticus 10. "Do not drink wine or strong drink, thou "nor thy sons with thee "when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die."
The first casualty from Iraq buried in sec. 60 was named Russell Rippetoe. He was an Army ranger, and he was killed very early in the fighting in Iraq, in March 2003. He was at a checkpoint on the Iraq-Syria border where they were screening people. He approached a car....But in any event, one of the people in the car was outfitted with a suicide vest and blew herself and the car up, killing Russell Rippetoe.
The very first casualty was from a woman with a suicide vest blowing herself up. Not an Iraq Army regular or Saddam's Republican Guard. That alone should have told us volumes about exactly who we were fighting and what we got ourselves involved in there.
I posted this particular article merely to point out the fact that we only seem to hear from the MSM when it generates revenue, benifits “progressives” or fills in/wastes time.
We saw and heard casualty reports almost nightly when Bush was CIC; since Obama took over ....... crickets.

My father would leave the room when MASH was on. He felt that it was a slap in the face to all the men and women who sacrificed so much and that that slap was to further a progressive/liberal/socialist/communist agenda.
My father was about 10 miles west of Father Kapaun at the battle of Unsan on Nov 2, 1950. That 10 miles meant the difference between life and death.
Making a joke out of great sacrifice to further a political agenda is unacceptable in my fathers and my book. Too high of a price was paid. Politics should stop at the shore when Americans are in harms way, Even years later and Democrats are the worst offenders.
I despise the left. The left gets people killed - WW1, WW11, Korea, Vietnam and failing to secure the peace post Bushs Irag and Afghanistan. Sorry, Just my humble opinion.
Very true.
Well said.
Also, those who deserve it don’t need it. The rest is just frou frou crap, imo.
My Dad didn’t want a military funeral. He said if he had died fighting during the War (WWII) then fine but, he didn’t so he didn’t think that was necessary for him. My oldest brother really wanted us to have that for him because he deserved it. We all got that, his feelings on it, but regardless, it wasn’t what my Dad wanted. And that’s all that counted in the end.
As for the MASH TV show, my Dad hated it (mostly Alan Alda, lol). I didn’t understand it at the time. Anyway, I liked the show, thought it was funny as a teen. I started watching when it was in syndication/reruns. My Dad watched with me a few times and saw it differently, from my perspective...as a funny show not based in reality.
Very well said!
Yep. The show was anti war leftist crap which is why my Dad hated it (WWII vet).
And he was just that. An actor. I liked his character in the show and know nothing about the man who portrayed that character.
As long as we know this, it’s harmless. Far too many don’t seem to realize that.
Yup,I hear ya.MASH was,in fact, one giant "The US IS THE BAD GUY IN VIETNAM" exercise. And there can be no doubt that most,if not all,of the people connected with it were major league Maoists (witness the recent video by Farrell and Swit).
Thank you. :)
Sidney Freeman was my favorite MASH character. His scenes with Hawkeye in the MASH finale were intense.
