Sorry, but I disagree.. We cannot become like the liberals, and only listen to what we want to hear. NPR actually does some reporting on things that often are outside the mainstream, and while it clearly is liberally slanted it is not an MSNBC which is an absolute waste of bandwidth.

There is little doubt that Liberals drove their party into the ground because they drove out anyone who held a viewpoint that they didn’t want to hear. There are no more blue dogs in the party, because they were driven out by the leadership and that my friends is the real reason they are set up for failure for the next 20 years, assuming the republicans don’t do anything stupid.

We can’t find ourselves doing the same thing. I watch Frontline, I listen to NPR, I watch NOVA, and even manage to occasionally sit through an independent lens (though that’s almost impossible to do).. Among other things... Not because I agree with the obvious political slant they can/often/always take depending on the show... but because of it. I recognize it, and don’t fall for it, but it helps me see where they are coming from, and how they are using their world view to color events.

We cannot simply tune out things we don’t want to hear, if we do, we will be the ones sitting stunned at sometime in the future asking “how did that happen”

Let them have their frequencies and tax exempt status, but end the subsidies and allow some other “public” broadcasting outlets.

Don’t be sorry. I feel it should be shut down. If the programming is worth anything, allow the free market to deal with it.
