Why was Ivanka Trump flying on JetBlue?
That is a question on everyones mind today, a day after the daughter of President-elect Donald Trump was involved in an incident aboard a flight on the low-cost airline from JFK International Airport in New York City.
A fellow passenger, whom some media sites identified as Dan Goldstein of Brooklyn, N.Y., was accused of harassing her by saying Your father is ruining the country. Goldstein and his husband, identified as Hunter College Professor Matthew Lasner, were removed from the flight and offered a later flight.
But Goldstein also reportedly wanted to know why Trump was on a commercial flight and not a private or charter jet.
Fair question.
While Ivanka could have flown on one of her fathers Trump planes, it does cost the president-elect thousands of dollars to run them.
Donald Trump has two jet planes: a Boeing 757, often called Trump Force One, and a smaller jet, Cessna Citation X, The New York Times reports.
To run the smaller jet would cost about $3,200 an hour and the Boeing 757 about $8,000 to $12,000 an hour, according to Conklin & de Decker, an aviation reference company.
Thats a lot of money to fly only a family of five: Ivanka, her husband Jared Kushner and their three children.
JetBlue said the passenger was removed from a San Francisco-bound flight, as Ivanka planned to travel to Hawaii for the holidays. But a few media reports suggests that the flight was headed to Palm Beach International Airport, 3 miles west of Mar-a-Lago, the president-elects Palm Beach mansion where he is spending the Christmas holidays.
A JetBlue flight from New York to West Palm Beach is only about two and one-half hours. To have the president-elects daughter traveling on a commercial flight for more than three hours could be a security risk.
According to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, 1.3 percent of JetBlues traffic is from PBIA to JFK, which is around 300,000 passengers a year. The airline alone flies about 23 million passengers a year.
Also, one out of every 15 passengers at PBIA are traveling on a JetBlue flight to JFK, which suggests JetBlue is a popular choice for those flying to and from the New York area.
And who doesnt like flying JetBlue with all its perks? Such as personal TVs, free snacks and drinks, and comfy, spacious seats. The pricing is also less expensive than other airlines, with a round-trip flight from JFK to PBIA starting at about $250.
A spokeswoman for the Trump family would not comment on the incident, but did not deny what took place, according to The Associated Press.
Trump’s cheap! We will reap the benefits of his tight fist. A new Calvin Coolidge, lol!
Fair question.
Bull crap! It's not a fair question and it's none of our business why she chose to fly commercial. And the two guys who got thrown off the plane had no right to ask the question, either. Just because someone is famous doesn't mean you automatically have the right to stop and question them.
The fair question now is : “Why aren’t these two on the NO FLY List?”
Okay, I see a problem right off the bat...
First of all, it is not anyone’s business why she flew Jet Blue.
Secondly, cost effectivenss is a priority for the Trumps OBVIOUSLY.
One the other hand, why aren’t this stupid, nasty liberals concerned about the MASSIVE WASTE of money perpetrated by Obama, his family and the rest of the motely crew of money wasters?
Because they are regular people- not elitist snobs.
Maybe they’re regular Americans who live frugally and save their cash while finding the best deals.
And weren’t worried about a pair of twisted freaks who didn’t feel inhibited about threatening other people.
Used to be that way in America.
Maybe Dad can work that out for them.
That’s right. People who wearn money the hard way tend to spend it wisely. Unlike Obama, who never did anything in his life. How muuch money has he spent on vacations these past 8 years? I thought I read $85 million...
I like JetBlue. We’ve had great flights with them.
Exactly right!
Then again, most "economists" these days don't even consider rational economic choices, even many who claim to be "Conservative", so I guess it's too much to ask for people to look at the situation and include her being a rational economic actor as a possibility.
“Fair question”
BullCrap...nobodys business.
The ordered Air Force One was going to cost $4BILLION. Maybe Trump doesn’t believe in wasting money?
JetBlue is great.
Jet Blue has televisions on their seat backs, that’s why.
It’s a lot less than OBAMA VACATIONS. I don’t recall many in the press questioning the cost of travel for the obamas.
It is? OK, how about "none of your damn business" as a fair answer?
To be honest, I can see Trump asking Ivanka and her husband to bait this trap for some dizzy-dems to fall into. And boy, didn’t they jump at the bait. Secret Service was aboard, but decided to let the airline personnel handle it. So Ivanka and Co. were never in any real physical peril.
If this was a real situation, I am a bit troubled that her husband did not obviously do more to protect his family.
Many folks thought it was a set up weeks ago, when VP Pence went to the theater and got lectured by some know it all actor.
I think Steve Bannon later went, but caused no incident.
Most folks would not yet recognize Steve unless he stood by Trump.
If she had her own private jet they would complain about that.
Of course, on a ma moving into a 5+ million dollar house doesn’t bother them.
They would be laughable but increasingly they show they are unstable.
