Where is the .ai domain?

If I got an email that ended in .ai
I probably wouldn’t open it.

.ai. Is Anguilla (of all places!)

Anguilla is British Caribbean island. (Tax haven too. Per wiki: “Anguilla has become a popular tax haven, having no capital gains, estate, profit or other forms of direct taxation on either individuals or corporations. In April 2011, faced with a mounting deficit, it introduced a 3% “Interim Stabilisation Levy”, Anguilla’s first form of income tax.). Sounds interesting?

The domain is Anguilla but the server could be anywhere I guess.

It can be anywhere - i.e. you can be in West Buzzard Creek, Wyoming ,and buy a name with the .ai extension. If you have a domain name that is already taken in the .com - .net - .org world you can buy another lesser known extension. (I would guess that”Gab” is already taken, hence the use of .ai).
But if the extension did were restricted to a geographic location, this would be in Anguilla.
To find out who owns a domain you need to do a “who is” check. You can search sites such as this one for gab.ai:
