either the closet door was about to burst open or upcoming deployment orders did not sit right with her... the article didn’t say much. guess we’ll find out as soon as our media gets a hold of it...

Indeed. The headline read like a joke, as if she took a long walk off a short pier or similar, lol. But no, chick actually did quit. No word on whether or not she got wet when she walked off, haha

Ha! something isn’t right though. being a skipper on any vessel is a dream job to Naval officers. and if she indeed did get all those awards in less than a year, and even if she only deserverd half of them, it still shows accomplishment. I think ill look into this one a bit.
Also one of the most stressful jobs one can imagine. The CO is held accountable for everything that happens aboard that ship, whether they had anything to do with it or not. "Skipper Relieved of Duty" is the headline of pretty much every other issue of Navy Times.

I assume resignation and relief of duty works about the same as in the Army- you request through channels to resign/be relived, it takes a few O6- GO signatures and branch approval, then in a few weeks or so, the action is formalized in orders for both relief of duty and out processing from the service- not an “I quit and am walking off the job”- that is dereliction/UA/etc.
I expect she’ll be charged with a handful of UCMJ violations. And then they’ll investigate why all of this drama....

Looks like the ship is in maintenance at this point. It isn’t even scheduled for crew training until sometime next year. So she basically had a desk job that would pad her resume.
The thought of serving under DJT as Commander in Chief too much for her to bear so she pulled the pin in order to be out by Inauguration Day?
