So, with gas getting cheap the large cars will be more in demand.
agreed
Of more interest to me is the rest of Ford's statement, which says "We are encouraged that President-elect Trump and the new Congress will pursue policies that will improve U.S. competitiveness and make it possible to keep production of this vehicle in the United States.
This brings up a key point that I really hope Trump addresses: We need to not only retain jobs, we need to, as a company like Ford grows, provide an environment where those new jobs are created here in the US. The status quo, or even slow growth, means we lose. And tariffs should be the last resort.
And the LSM was crowing a day or two ago that Ford was still going with it’s plans and “it wouldn’t take any jobs away because they would re-hire folks when they retooled ...”Kind of like Plastic Nancy saying that unemployment benefits put more into the economy than they added up to....
Note: There seems to be a lot of conflicting information out there. However, Ford’s decision to keep production in the US that would otherwise have moved away is the common thread, and is good news, esp. if it means Ford is not moving production to Mexico in order to expand production overall. Merely retaining jobs is not sufficient.
Go, DT!
