I disagree with Trump. The founders knew what they were doing in setting up these parameters.
Not to mention the votes of illegal aliens.
Disagree with Trump? Did he say something anti-EC? I see nothing in the article that suggests such and hadn’t heard it anywhere else.
Excuse me, but lets talk voter fraud and the 3 million illegals who voted!!!! Then there are the felons, voting machines that registered Hitlery when the vote was cast for Trump, and those who voted repeatedly, and the 1.3 million DEAD who voted!!! Let’s talk about the Soros-voting machines in how many states???
I’m really Liberal propaganda saying that the Witch won the popular vote! Expose and prosecute the voter fraud!! Jail or prison time for the criminals.
Let’s get the truth reported for a change!!!
It doesnt matter who won the popular vote. The Electoral College system - superior to the popular vote because it implements our decentralized, republican form of government so that NY & California cannot decide every election - is set in place by the Constitution (Art II, Sec 1, Cl 2-4) and CANNOT be LEGALLY changed without a Constitutional Amendment.
The rationale of a republican form of government over a democracy is very compelling. But even more compelling here is the legal argument that regardless of who agrees with the rationale, the Electoral College wont go away without a Constitutional Amendment which, as you say, wont happen.
So the popular vote argument is moot and a waste of everybodys time EXCEPT to point out to the Left that it is a constitutional issue. Dont let the Leftist screams and shouts drown out the simple fact that this is a constitutional issue. Their screams and shouts are not a Constitutional Amendment so they amount to nothing.
If fraud is found in the tally of a particular state, that is another story especially if it changes the majority vote in the state because that will affect the electoral vote. So FOR STATES all the votes in the popular vote DO count. However, in terms of absentee votes, my understanding is that if the electoral vote is set pending the absentee vote, then at least some states dont count the absentee votes if all the absentee votes cannot change the outcome. Of course if people dont like that, they can petition their state with enough signatures to vote to change that.
Exactly! Without the electoral college most of the US could be safely ignored. Just campaign in big population centers and turn out the vote.
Yes, he has said in the past that EC should be changed. He may have even said that in the 60 minutes interview. I seem to remember him saying it again and was kind of surprised since it just got him elected.
Nowadays it's drugs.
And the feds need to get on stopping voter fraud right now, and possibly expose the Clinton popular vote majority as a falsehood in the process. This election depended on some unique factors that might not be present again, so R’s need to make sure future elections are clean or as nearly so as they can be made. Get rid of unauditable un-recountable voting technology, make sure the voter can verify what’s being recorded in real time so such audits would have value in the first place, enshrine voter ID, etc. Can’t imagine why R’s ever laid down for federal support of machine voting in the first place (except that they’re part of the statist cabal just like Dems, only incognito)
“I disagree with Trump. The founders knew what they were doing in setting up these parameters.”
Actually, it was a compromise as the (more) smaller states forced this on the (fewer) larger states.
He may be referring to this 2012 tweet that has recently resurfaced:

Subtract out the illegal votes of non-citizens and Trump won the popular vote as well.
Yes and no. The Constitution lets states determine electors however they want, and there is a movement afoot to have a critical mass of states assign electors according to the national popular vote. That would violate the spirit, but unfortunately not the letter, of the Consitution, as the EC structure would still nominally be in place.
This is from The People’s Cube a couple of days ago:
In related news, hundreds of thousands of millennials, who have recently graduated from college, have also been shocked to discover the existence of an electoral college. Up until now most of them were under the impression that U.S. presidential elections were decided by some kind of Late Night Comedian Index that has existed since the country’s founding back in 1968 at the Woodstock Constitutional Convention - a historic event attended by their college professors - where the nation’s Constitution was written by Jefferson Airplane and signed by the coolest celebrities of that legendary era.
Our Constitution is the hill I’ll die on.
You illegal filth mess with it, prepare to die.

Let's face it, the small segments of the land masses of those two states vote overwhelmingly demon-rat, thereby overriding the more conservative areas of the states. If the states were to split, letting the rat areas stay rat, then the more conservative voter blocks would have a greater say and the GOP wouldn't have to fear losing both of those states.
Also remember that once a precinct is called, the remaining uncounted votes (mail-in, absentee, provisional) are not added to the total tally. Related, I have not heard if the overseas military vote was added to the popular vote totals.
So Hillary had more of the popular vote ... that was counted.
As Stalin said, it’s not the the ones that cast the votes that are important, it’s the one that counts the votes that is important.
I’d like to see the results without the illegal vote. Betcha we’d have NV, NM AND CO.
“He may have even said that in the 60 minutes interview.”
He definitely did say that, even after Leslie Stalled-as-a-journalist reminded him that he lost the popular vote. This is one example where his instincts are wrong and possibly reflective of his background as a democrat.
He seems to have enough people around him who recognize the value of the founders’ design of our system, so I don’t expect we will hear this again (certainly hope not).
