I think there’s a lot of wisdom in your point. However if a felon wants to get a gun and rob someone or kill someone “Felon in possession of a firearm” is not going to stop them.

Agreed, but, they don't need even 1/2 that much reason. The area I am in is "low crime rate" compared to many, and even so, one can hardly listen to a local newscast without there being at least one report of a felon arrested for some lesser charge than robbery through murder, but the felon / felons is / are also charged for possession of a gun. Most often the arrest is for drugs, in varying quantities, and / or starts off as a traffic stop.

Others may just have, or think they have, enemies who would harm them if they could.

My point was the left wanted that charge, but they drop it in every plea bargain. The hypocrisy and liberal idiot logic just oozes.
