PBS host Tavis Smiley reacted to Donald Trump’s presidential victory, telling MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell on Wednesday that America “showed its true colors.”
“What I saw last night was not red, white and blue as [President Barack Obama] would have us believe from his remarks earlier today,” Smiley said. “Love and justice lost last night. Hatred and revenge won last night.”
Smiley, who was a strong opponent to Trump and his racism, went on to say that the president-elect wasn’t the only winner. Racism, sexism, classism and militarism won, too, he argued.
