Custodian King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud had a telephone conversation with President-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, during which he congratulated him on winning the presidential election, Saudi Arabias official news agency SPA has announced.
During the conversation, King Salman confirmed Saudi Arabias aspiration to promote the historical and strategic relations with the United States, and work together to bring peace and stability to the Middle East and the world, and wished the American people further progress and prosperity under his leadership.
President-elect Trump expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for congratulating him, and emphasized his keenness to develop the distinctive bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, the statement said.
Earlier, King Salman said both Saudi Arabias government and its people offer their best wishes for the new US leader, who surpassed the necessary 270 votes after clinching Pennsylvanias 20 electoral votes to win the presidency. Trump is now the 45th United States president after a bitterly fought election against his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.
That is the FIRST thing we should have done after 9/11.
Spot on 86!
They’re not our allies.
Saudi Arabia has been playing us for years.
So right...
I've said that since the 70's.
If under a DJT Administration the EPA stops being a Xerox machine of new regulation to stop the Fracking industry in it's tracks, the Saudi's will be in further trouble. Not to mention their lobbying efforts, funding of mosque etc will come under further scrutiny. I get a sense the Saudi's get we now have an Alpha Male in Charge, No bowing here...
Trump specifically noted Saudi Arabia need US protection from IRAN.
...which they will start paying for.
Trump will not bow to anyone, unlike Obama.
Saudi Arabia is a nasty place - Netflix has a hidden camera documentary worth watching to put things in perspective.
I know the pipeline theory but the Gulf countries has already been pushing Russians off the market without it.
Trump’s answer will come in January
