If the GOP had two brain cells to run together, IMHO, after immigration, they would be all in for school choice, and a real school choice, i.e. every school-aged child in America gets a voucher for the cost of a public school education, and they can use that however and wherever they want, charter, parochial, private, public, magnet, even home schooling. Do that, and guaranteed within two decades, the Democratic Party as we know it and the left in general, would be finished.

Schools, like any other service, should be paid by those that utilize said service. Kill off the property tax (you don’t own what can be taxed) and return the obligation for education to the guardian/parent(s).
You write the check, you DAMN sure are going to worry about the quality of the output.
Vouchers are still theft and involuntary servitude of the taxpayer. They would quickly become yet another ‘vote for ME’ pandering hand-out for the ‘poor’.
School quality?? They are kidding.
Worcester, Ma..Providence St. Junior High School..Class of 1948. School had grads 7-8-9, 9 being Freshman year of High School.
How well would TODAY’S students do in our final tests in Geography, Algebra, History (world/USA), English, Civics, and even the ability to WRITE legibly let alone spell correctly? SPELL CHECK was the teachers RED marker.
