IMAP: Four letters that spell potential doom for Hillary and Huma
Doug Ross @ Journal ^ | November 1, 2016 | Doug Ross

I'll bet you're growing tired of the ongoing cancer that is the Hillary Clinton campaign of corruption, cover-ups and criminality.

Fear not. I've got something you may not have heard before. I hadn't heard of it until an hour or so ago. It's a technical acronym, related to Internet email, that most lay people wouldn't quite grok.

The inimitable Karl Denninger offers us the single, critical tidbit of data that makes all the difference. It relates to a statement that tech billionaire Mark Cuban made on CNBC:

This "newly discovered" laptop is very likely to be literal nuclear waste for Hillary and everyone around her, including the Clinton Foundation and all of Hillary's "advisers" such as Podesta.

Mark Cuban said that Huma used Outlook and IMAP (for Yahoo and similar). True.

But then he said this was unlikely to lead to "new" evidence in the form of the emails.

That's a lie.

It's a lie because Cuban knows he's full of crap; he knows enough about the technologies involved to be fully aware that he was peddling nonsense....

Just to throw something else out here... if there are indeed no new emails to see, then why would the FBI be pulling overlapping, round-the-clock 16-hour shifts to evaluate them? First priority would be new stuff... if there’s nothing new, then they could almost immediately have said so and Comey would have cover to say ‘nothing has changed.’

I think we talked about it, didn’t we?

Karl Denninger's point:
Here's the problem for Hillary -- when the server had emails deleted and then was "Bleached" it had already been taken offline and was never returned to service. As such the laptop client would have been unable to connect back to it and thus it would never be told to remove anything.
Without that machine (Weiner's laptop) being under remote administration such as Domain Policy control (which we can reasonably assume it was not as Huma claims "she didn't know about it" and it was allegedly a private laptop) there is no remote capability to wipe or otherwise get into said computer and remove the emails either. In fact there's a decent chance it's running an operating system edition (if Windows) that lacks domain control capability entirely.

So chances are all the deleted emails Huma was copied are on that computer.

Further, Ed Klein writes of Huma checking Hillary's emails for her. If Hillary's account was checked on this computer and synced, all of Hillary's deleted emails may be on this computer. The 33,000 yoga emails.

IMAP doesn’t matter, because the emails didn’t get on Weiner’s box (eeew) accidentally by IMAP, Huma had PURPOSELY downloaded and archived all the “Bad” emails in her “Insurance Policy/Corruption” folder for her own protection from the Clinton Mob. 99% chance that EVERY deleted email is on there, and a whole bunch that have never been seen because they have cryptic, unrecognizable email addresses like PrettyLady-Clintonemail.com. (;^)

IMAP means downloaded, not erased. So long as not erased, still on server and so long as device not re-synced, still on device. I use IMAP for this reason. So simple, and they are so busted.

If she used outlook, they would be stored in PST files that can be easily connected to any computer using outlook

everything is right there, so easy, even the fools at the FBI can do it!

Smoke and mirrors. The NSA and FBI has had those emails forever and know exactly what they say, but the FBI wasn't allowed by DOJ to use the info until Weiner's laptop enabled. Someone outside the feds saw it -- the NYPD -- and the shite hit the fan. Mark Cuban is a blathering tard. The FBI isn't combing over 650,000 emails. Anyone that believes that is too naïve for voting rights. The FBI has read all these emails many, many times. The time is being spent organizing and implementing their plan of action which includes Julian Assange and getting the truth out to voters and protecting the evidence from our corrupt DOJ until Trump can get those treasonous bitches out of there.

You can count on hearing nasty words "Weiner" and "Carlos Danger" progressing into uglier words like "Lolita Express" and "pedophilia" -- actionable words to be used against both Clintons -- heading home to roost in the next couple of days.

Checkmate, Cuban. You lose.

Another Mr. Smart IT Guy who isn’t really. With IMAP the issue for Huma is that when she forwarded email (classified and otherwise) to her Yahoo account, that data went to a Yahoo server. Depending on whether she used web mail or a client like Thunderbird or Outlook, to have a permanent copy on that laptops hard drive would be to save it to a local folder. We don’t know how she operated but as long as Yahoo is the mail service provider, the emails are under their control, and my bet is they do not “bleach bit” their servers, but rather archive everything. Court rulings have made it clear that mail providers cannot withhold items legally requested under court order.

In short, if it’s there it’s going to be looked at...and that can’t be good for Huma or Hillary.

PS: Yes, the same Yahoo where 500 million user accounts were hacked a couple of months ago...

They would only be in a PST if she either moved/copied or had a rule set to move them. What’s more likely is the client had replication turned on and the files were in a OST file (Offline folders). This file is in a folder that is hidden.

To be pedantic, this is not necessarily so, but most likely is the case, it just depends on how the IMAP client is set up.

With that being said, most IMAP users like myself, leave copies of messages on both the server and each device which accesses them.

This is kind of a poor man's backup, which in my case literally saved me a lot of time recovering my messages when my Solaris server had a hardware failure.

" to have a permanent copy on that laptops hard drive would be to save it to a local folder."

Or....

Was this thing like a huge in box, they were downloaded but never read as in a Wiki email it referred to this laptop as a resource for an eventual Hillary book. So was it maintained, i.e. putting files in folders, or was it a giant inbox?

The fact the FBI dumped the Marc Rich files and the reports of them feverishly raking through the Weiner laptop emails has me thinking they’re not through.

They know the Clintons are dirty and her election would mean another mob lawyer running the DOJ. They know she would be pardoned by herself or Obama and the case scuttled, probably with recriminations - another Saturday night massacre. They can’t risk it.

Maybe I’m being overly optimistic, but with talk of a preliminary report being prepared and Democrats demanding more info, that could be Comey’s perfect opening to announce that he has enough evidence for an indictment. It finishes off her campaign for good, and President Trump brings her to justice.

Will these email be made public or will they also be covered up and marked as classified so nobody will see them.

Emails can go. To any number of email clients. We all do it. For 650k emails to go to multiple clients takes a long time if you do it all at once. If huma set up a secondary client at home and they collected over time then she either kept the same password for years or kept her passwords in sync on her clients or someone else did it. They will easily know if the emails were downloaded all at once or trickled in day by day.

IMAP in english is a syncing system used for email. POP is another.
