When people are in fear of their lives, they call 911 in hope that people with guns (the police) show up and stop the threat. If the police don’t get there in time, what are you going to do to stop the treat without a gun?

When one calls 911 just tell them you have solved the problem, just send the Coroner and a Fire truck to hose down the mess.
That's why you need to have another emergency number available - 1911, as in M1911.

Exactly. One of my wife's friends noticed me grabbing my gun as I was ready to go out. She asked why I had it and didn't grasp the concept of personal defense at first. I asked her how she would handle a dangerous situation and she said she'd call 911. I told her, "OK, pretend I'm a bad guy and I'm getting ready to come across the room and hurt/rape/kill you. You start dialing and we'll see if you even get an answer before I get to you."
She looked like a deer in the headlights for a moment then mumbled a couple "Uhs". About that time my wife pulled her gun out of her purse and told her that she'd rather "dial in" on a bad guy than try to dial for help.
When I got back my wife asked if we could take her friend to the range sometime - she's considering arming herself.
That is a good one. When they ask if you own a gun on doctor forms, it gets checked NO. Not any of their business that I CCW.
