Newly announced double-digit premium hikes for those on the ObamaCare exchanges are handing Donald Trump a political weapon in key swing states where residents could be facing rate increases even higher than the national average.
The administration announced Monday that premiums for a midlevel plan are set to rise an average of 25 percent in 2017 in the 39 states that use the federal HealthCare.gov. The rate hikes vary widely across different cities and states, but several battlegrounds could be facing increases that are considerably higher.
According to administration figures, the average premium increase for a popular silver plan will rise 116 percent in Arizona; 40 percent in North Carolina; and 53 percent in Pennsylvania.

That could not have been timed better...! Thanks Obama!!!
People earning more than 250K? (Hillary and Biden's "rich").
The premium hikes must be having an adverse effect on the Dems’ election chances, otherwise a Dem governor like Mark Dayton wouldn’t have had a press conference to decry it.
I’m sure they’d rather not talk about it if they could.
Weeks before the election they will have egg on their face if they keep the charade up. It has always been a very close election, it might even be a Trumpslide if we get in there and kill it Nov 8th. I want that so bad I can taste Hillary’s despair. Now I gotta hit that bottle of extra strength mouthwash.
(Tin foil hat alert): This feels like a trap to me; the timing is almost too good to be true, as it’s too easy a softball for Trump to hit, and hit repeatedly and hard. I’m almost expecting some kind of special dispensation from Obama this week that will “freeze” these rate hikes for some time while the rates undergo a review, similar to how the SS tax rate was reduced a few years ago. Making this a central campaign issue now allows them to then quickly pull the rug out from under us, thereby removing a major Trump talking point. (ok, end of alert)
Insurance rates are not a federal issue. Nothing Nobama can do but blame republicans which he’s trying but since not one republican voted for it, that’s a hard sell.
Strange. His outstanding debate performance produced no bump but this does?
