You also need a gun that you are willing to actually carry day in and day out.

That 500 mag won’t do you any good if you left it in the truck.

Beg to differ. Speer makes the 270 DeepCurl for the specific purpose of a 44mag being used against bears.

Yes I would not trust less than a .44 magnum on bears.
