The old mechanical voting machines had a curtain which closed, so no one could see what you were doing.

These ones are turned with the screen facing the wall, so no one can go behind you and see your vote. However, you are facing the table where the Election Board members and poll watchers are seated, and they can all see what you’re doing without being able to read the screen.

The machines at my voting place are electronic yet have a complete curtain for voting privacy. Video will be running. :-)
