Explain the headline, “Casting ballot for DEM” then? Should have been a “Casting ballot for nobody” and if user interface design was anything at all, it would pop up a WARNING that “this candidate is not running.”

A correctly programmed machine would not show the candidate in the first place. So, there would be no need for a warning.

More than likely, the error is a touch screen mis-calibration. Too bad the voter didn't try touching in the yellow above the check box. It probably would have registered a vote for Rigell, proving mis-calibration was the issue.

Then the questions would be, who mis-calibrated it and why do touchscreens need to be calibrated in 2014?
