This is not true. He even said if he could keep America together and keep slavery, he would do it.

The civil war was about money, power, taxation, and control.

Slavery was a small subset of the taxation issue.

President Abraham Lincoln published the Emancipation Proclamation on 1 January 1863 - during the middle of the Civil War that went on - over slavery - from 1861 to 1865. And now, TODAY, Donald Trump is essentially going to clean up things and produce JOBS for those who are, substantially, welfare-slave Americans.
