Does Donald Trump Pose a Threat to Progressive Dominance by Way of the Administrative State?
Disputed Questions ^ | 10/11/16 | Prof. John Marini

The only defense of Trump is a defense of the nation and the sovereignty of the people. We haven’t even gotten to Constitutionalism. That’s going to come later...I don’t defend Trump as a conservative. I defend Trump as an American, which is the way he defends himself. And so that’s why…does he call himself a conservative?...For me, these labels or the slogans that we use now are of no import. There’s only one slogan that Trump uses that is revealing, and that is, “Make America great again.” And that slogan is revealing because it says that something like this: “America was better in the past than it is now.” And progressivism is seeing the good of America not in its past but in its present and future...

At least Trump says the good was in the past. That’s something. America was good when it understood itself in terms of what gave America meaning, which was its Constitution, which was its Declaration. Those things are what are in question now...

You have to go back to a defense of natural right...there is an intellectual defense of natural right that comes out of the modern university, which has to be recreated intellectually. It got its start in America by people like Leo Strauss and continued with Harry Jaffa...

In any event, I have a very low bar as to what Trump is going to be able to accomplish. My support of Trump is, he’s tried to do something that nobody has tried to do in my lifetime.

And the very first thing that he did that made it apparent to me that he knows what he’s doing is, he knew that it was essential to take the conversation out of the hands of the intellectual elite, of both the liberals and conservatives.

In a sense, he’s the proggies’ only hope. Before we start shooting them, that is.

He does. Disrupt liberals’ supply line of new voters, and their whole project unravels. Trump is one upset election away from taking the first major step in 50 years to stop them.

Trump’s list of Catholic advisers gives me hope that he will be getting the truth about the hierarchy: that the Pope and his cronies, and the majority of bishops in the U.S., are totalitarians trying to destroy Christianity, the West, and America. The katholyk church runs on government money. Trump must shut off the spigots.

I love this piece!!

It is right on the money!

With Trump, our country might exist in four years.

With Hillary, it won’t.

That’s it.

Conservative has lost all meaning when it has been applied to Paul Ryan, Yeb! Bush, Flimsey Grahamnesty, Jeff Flake, John McCain and many others whose main goal is the abandonment of the rule of law and the dissolution of the meaning of citizenship.
