Oscar-winning Polish film director Andrzej Wajda has died aged 90, the Polish Filmmakers' Association has confirmed. He made more than 40 feature films in a career spanning 60 years. Many of his films - including Kanal, Man of Marble, Man of Iron and Katyn - were inspired by Poland's turbulent wartime and communist history. In 2000, Wajda was awarded an honorary Oscar for his contribution to world cinema.

“Kanal” was truly a frightening and sad look at how the Nazis decimated the “Warsaw Uprising” of 1944 with the Soviet’s deliberate stand-off of forces in order to let the Germans wipe out any potential free Polish government in the future.

Wow. I thought he had died years ago. In any event, congratulations on a life well lived.
It was an insult to Wajda that the Academy chose of all people, Jane Fonda to present him with an Honorary Oscar.
I wanted to ask him a question where had he seen the gas chambers and crematoria in current Poland, etc.etc.etc but I was late...
Actually, in Poland we have a saying “About the dead speak highly or keep quiet.”
So, in his case I’ll be as silent as the deepest abyss.
It is sad to see so many being deceived, when in fact it was the PO that were acting like the Fascists when they were in power.
