“It can happen here.”

I promise you that is true.

My father once made the mistake in the 1950s, at the height of American power, of saying to my grandfather that the US was forever, etc. My grandfather turned on him and said, “Sonny boy, you know nothing. No nation is forever, in case you forgot why I am living here. He then related the following story:

My paternal grandfather was born in Russia. When he was 12, in 1913, the country celebrated the 300th anniversary of the Romanov Dynasty. Emphasis was placed on the permanence of the Czar. He said that, “my grandfather’s grandfather’s grandfather did not know a time before the Czar.” The Czar WAS forever for the Russians...until 4 years later when the Czar was deposed, and a year later shot with his family by a bunch of savages and dumped down a well.

So my grandfather concluded that America, no matter how rich and powerful it was at that time, is not forever. He was right, but I could never have imagined how close we have come to literally imploding. This state of affairs is the one and only reason that I am glad that they aren’t here...it spared them the anguish of seeing this country being destroyed from the inside, by a bunch of traitors in government, business and academia, aided by a bunch of know-nothing useful idiots.

Great post. I’m glad my parents are gone and don’t have to put up with what we will have to endure. They were good and decent people and my father fought mightily in the Pacific to secure our freedom. Pray God I meet him in Paradise but I am no angel anymore than my adored presidential candidate is.
