A Donald Trump “flash mob” will assemble in Holland Township on Tuesday.
Supporters of Trump’s presidential bid will gather at the corner of River and Douglas avenues at 4 p.m. on Sept. 27. They will wave signs and flags as commuters drive by, joining a number of other similar pro-Trump events that will be going on around Michigan at the same time.
“One impetus of these statewide flash mobs is the lack of visible enthusiasm or planned events by the GOP,” said local activist Jim Chiodo, who is organizing Holland’s gathering. “This is true locally where the local office does not have a single Trump sign displayed and people seeking yard signs are directed to Lansing.”
Chiodo, who is a volunteer with a group called West Michigan Republicans, said he will be handing out pro-Trump signs at the rally on Tuesday.
The Michigan Conservative Coalition is organizing the rallies across Michigan. Tuesday will be the group’s second statewide flash-mob rally. It reported that 3,000 people participated at 25 sites in the first one several weeks ago.
It is expected that 35 sites participate in Tuesday’s rally.
“The grassroots energy around the Trump campaign is enormous,” Rosanne Ponkowski, president of the coalition, said. “Nearly every day, we are processing a request for a new location to be added as a flash site.”
Tuesday’s rally will be held rain or shine and it will go until 6:30 p.m. People planning on attending may register at eventbrite.com.
