The NFL clearly knows this. Given that the NFL is HUGELY popular in just about all parts of the USA, one wrong move by the NFL and they could lose the "golden egg"--especially if fans start to put pressure on the NFL's official advertisers.

You assume sports team owners do this for a living. For most, it is a hobby of the rich which nets them money to burn while giving them a great seat to the game.

If the NFL folded tomorrow, those 32 owners would move on and not even blink.
