Yes I think recreationally making yourself comatose, or irrational, or hallucinatory, is actually criminal. So there. You don’t live on an island.
If you are nodding or nuts or stupid or psycho through no fault of your own, we your family and friends and church and even state will fill in for you and try to help you out. It is wrong for you to get that way on purpose.
Add to that many are depending properly upon you in little ways ( your neighbor trusts you won’t leave the stove on) to big ways ( your kid needs you sane).
It is comfy for you to pretend that your actions don’t affect others but they do.
So just an assumption on my part, but being consistent you would make alcohol illegal too then instead of legalizing a natural plant... Cool Noted... one or the other, I don't care which, I am sick of dodging alcoholics on the road that poison themselves daily too, I got a friend, that I know better than to answer the phone when he calls much beyond an hour after he gets off work...
Ok. So you want to demand people to be completely 100% sober 24/7 under penalty of prison?
Never happening. Intoxication has been a huge part of every known civilization as a recreational activity to relieve stress since recorded history began. It has even been done by animals LONG before humans walked the earth.
Even if you magically outlawed all substances, people would huff road solvents or ferment their own feces to escape reality. The best we can do is allow certain drugs on the market that are pure, non-toxic, properly dosed and don’t cause long-term harm. So people can escape but still come back when they want. Otherwise you have people instantly and permanently destroying their brains with things like spraypaint, K2, bathsalts and countless other contaminated fake drugs that are the fruits of prohibition.
