During the Watts Riots in Los Angeles my dad and neighbor patrolled our neighborhood armed with a M1 carbine and shotgun. I at the ripe age of twelve stood watch in my back yard with Winchester lever action 22.

During the Watts Riots in Los Angeles My Great Uncle (he was white) owned a duplex on 69th St. in the heart of the area. His neighbors (all blacks, all well armed) took turns watching his house to make sure they were not harmed. Uncle Robert sold the duplex a short time later.
