I’ve hiked all over the Smoky Mountains and haven’t seen a “person of color” in the backcountry there either...And very, very few in the campgrounds in the Park....

I've hiked extensively in Colorado, Utah, and New Mexico. Don't remember seeing any black hikers on any of the trails, nary a one. Nor do I see any blacks on any of the nature cruises I've taken down local rivers, or in the field birding. Virtually all my fellow hikers, cruisers, and birders were Caucasian, with the occasional Asian.

When my children were young my husband and I would take them to the Philadelphia and Baltimore museums and zoos. In cities that were predominantly black there were almost no blacks and few Latinos in the sites we chose to visit. Mostly there were families who looked like us ( white, older parents, and well educated).

By the way, thank you to all the poor people who paid taxes to subsidized our lifestyle.

I can tell the trails frequented by colored people near me.
They are the ones with litter and refuse covering the trail.

I’ve become adept at tracking them and identifying their markings. For instance: Dirty diapers thrown to the side of the road? That’s Mexicans, right there.
