This will draw a lot of hate from the farmer-haters who think we get rich on govt. subsidies. That ended for most farmers years ago.


Yes the subsidies just moved to those with better lobbying skills. Gov’t got out of direct payments to farmers and subsidized the crop insurance industry as ONE example.

What happens when you take the risk out of farming?

This is just one example and now think of all the other lobbying.

Those insurance programs are worthless. It doesn’t cost much but it pays very little, you’d be lucky to recoup your seed costs. We still do private enterprise hail insurance for our high risk crop even though they only let you go up to $1500 per acre.
