My take as well. Until one understands the inherent evil of their ideology, you cannot answer it. Even then, you have to exercise a level of commitment that has never existed in this country—at least not since the Indian Wars.
Islam offers a binary choice: submission or death. The only reasonable response to such a threat is total annihilation. The only thing really up for discussion should be methodology.
“Until one understands the inherent evil of their ideology, you cannot answer it.”
We live in an age when people of both sides strive to not face the presuppositions upon which choices and actions are based.
George Bush - unlike the Founding Fathers - refused to acknowledge this inherent evil. The neocons have all fallen in line with this.
If one’s starting premise is false, then all that follows is false.
As long as we accept the false premise that Islam itself is peaceful and not responsible for violence done in its name, then we are doomed to fail in fighting it.
Spot on.
This same "reason" and logic are used in the annihilation of fatal viruses and disease before they become epidemic. Vaccines are created expressly to that end. Why isn't the same reason, logic and resolution applied in this case?
Could it be that the template of pretense or delusion that Islam is a "Religion of Peace"? (as a lie that was shamelessly propagandized and advanced by President George W. Bush days after 911) has become so entrenched in America's collective psyche that we are politically paralyzed to process the only logical choice before it metastasizes?
One reasonable methodology may be the Japanese template.
There is a simple reason we never read about jihadi attacks in Japan. There are no [actually very few] Muslims there. No Muslims, no terrorists. This is a significant data point in the public debate over Muslim immigration. Donald Trump, of course, has famously proposed a suspension of Islamic immigration until we can figure out a way to screen out jihadis, and Franklin Graham is backing that suggestion to the hilt.
The official policy of Japan is not to give citizenship to Muslims who come to Japan, and even permits for permanent residency are given sparingly to Muslims.
Japan is a nation of roughly 126 million people. And yet, according to Dr. Kedar, there are only 10,000 Muslims in the entire country.
The primary God-given role of government is to keep us safe. According to Romans 13, this involves the use of lethal force, when necessary, to administer justice and to protect our national security.

A Muslim "refugee" moratorium and end to "anchor" families and babies is the only way to stop the further imminent threats to US security and stand of safe living.
Islam has been taught to fear the West, and has been beaten back several times. The last three were about 1670-1700, 1800-1820, and 1900-1920.
When the hordes are defeated militarily and the leadership killed off, they subside for a while (about 3 generations) because they have to.
What needs to be done is to change the base societies that they come from. Attaturk attempted this in Turkey, but was not successful, as we see now. Perhaps insisting on freedom of religion in Islamic states would be a good start.
