Although ... if this is a neighborhood that has generally a low crime footprint ... and the reports of "recent" robberies are just that .. recent .. the robberies could have been a cover to set up for the hit.

Don't forget ... the DNC has been SO exposed and those exposures DO show deep and relatively well covered over crimes ... why COULDN'T this be a well played ploy to accomplish the silencing of a leak ,, (if it is/was)
