Right now we are more divided than we were before the civil war.
The only things saving us from a civil war are bread and circuses, or, in our case, welfare and cheap cable.
Those and the fact the divisions are not binary, but multi-factional. As soon as the sides break down to two or three, and the power or cable goes out, it’s on.
THe bad news is that the next civil war will look more like Lebanon than like the US Civil War.

Incorrect. Not even close. The division between the North and the South began around 1810 and increased until the break out of the Civil War.
