Spent some time there in the early 70s, wonderful people. But I had a sense of foreboding when ever I was around the guest workers from Turkey, they just didn’t seem to be making an effort to assimilate and showed no intention of going home. I thought that program was a mistake.

Speaking of Turks, I made fast friends with the German kids who were exchange students here in America before I went to Germany.
The German kids were here in late winter when all the fish houses were all still out on the lake ice and the one kid asked in all seriousness if that's where we keep the Turks
