“necessities of a 21st century economy”

Perhaps we should try for a 20th century economy.

The 1920’s were good for just about everyone except overindebted farmers.

Truman’s economy worked fairly well.

The early 1960’s under Kennedy were peaceful and prosperous.

Unless you overpaid for Internet stocks, the 1990’s under Hillary’s husband were fairly decent.

Things were pretty good under Reagan.

Hey Obama - I have an entitlement to live in a rich neighborhood that looks like the film set to a Beaver Cleaver rerun. Get cracking on it.

I literally cannot tell you how glad I am to have grown up in the 90’s in the last good economic times America probably will have for quite awhile. My family was lower-middle class but my bedroom looked like a toystore by the time I moved out. Our neighborhood was so peaceful that criminal incidents in 10 years could be counted on your two hands. Our worst ‘hardships’ were postage stamp yards and sharing a bedroom, dealt with by mom telling us to go to play at one of the three parks in easy walking distance.

By contrast a lot of my peers now grew up during 2000-2010 and have little if any memories of when things didn’t suck due to the dot-com bubble popping and/or our pathetic response to 9/11 resulting in a ruinously expensive and ineffective occupation. They pretty much didn’t get to see the good times at all.
