A large mural of the Statue of Liberty punching presidential candidate Donald Trump in the face became the focus of a debate this week among Regent Square residents about freedom of assembly.
When the presidential primaries began earlier this year, Joe Davis, 45, the owner of Biddles Escape cafe in Wilkinsburg, encouraged his neighbors to put campaign signs on his front lawn, which sits opposite his cafe on the corner of Biddle Avenue and Trenton Street. But as the primaries went on, the signs for Republican candidates disappeared, leaving only Democratic candidates Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton.
Cafe regulars described the street corner and the cafe as nonpartisan spaces in a predominately liberal neighborhood. But after Mr. Davis commissioned Wilkinsburg artist Bob Ziller, 55, to paint a large satirical mural of Mr. Trump for his front lawn, some supporters of the Republican front-runner thought Mr. Davis yard, and his cafe, no longer welcomed all political beliefs.
Two weeks ago a supporter of Mr. Trumps announced on the online forum Craigslist a Trump rally, scheduled for Friday at Biddles Escape. Although no rally occurred at Biddles Escape, the online announcement split local opinion over whether Mr. Davis should permit any supporters of Mr. Trump to meet at Biddles Escape....

Anyone who values the 1st Amendment should never spend another dime at this cafe.
Anyone can make an ass out of themselves, I guess.
That’s the proper approach. Our side must never act like the left, censoring speech we don’t like.
Or the 2nd amendment too.
I assume Mr. Davis’ customers all approve of his venturing into political cartoons. If they don’t, he’s caused himself a problem.
Wilkinsburg is what residents of the Pittsburgh area call Wellkillyinzburg. It is a cesspool of crime, corruption, liberals and drug addled leeches on the northeast side of Pittsburgh. But I repeat myself.

LOL
J-school grads/English majors/Comm majors should be second in line with their backs up against walls when the revolutions come...
Why is that when someone puts up an anti-Obama, or anti-Hillary, or anti-Bernie sign, it sparks “outrage”, but when someone puts up an anti-Trump, or anti-Bush, or anti-Conservative sign, it merely sparks “debate”??
Anti- H->! = Domestic Terrorism
Joe Davis is an idiot. He’s in a business where things aren’t always stable. There are good times but then, over time, things turn to the worse. Like me, a lot of people don’t easily forgive and forget.
Trump should hold a rally at Biddles Escape.
Exactly. Definite No Go zone unless absolutely necessary and well armed.
From the photo, it seems that “nonpartisan” means they are supporting Bernie an Hillary equally.
I’ve never understood people like this needing to alienate customers in such an in-your-face way.
I’m more that sure that your average coffeehouse isnt right-leaning, but people come there to just drink some coffee, and leech the wi-fi, so how about giving people a break and just engage in commerce?
That’s why Michael Jordan doesn’t get involved in political endorsements. He know that people on the right buy is shoes as much as the left, so why tick them off?
At least those are American flags. With the Left these days, that’s becoming a rare thing.
It’s gonna be fun watching liberals fill their depends when Trump wins.
