This is susan Kelo's back yard. Or where it used to be. This once middle class neighborhood is now empty thanks to liberalism and the belief that the government is always right.
Several liberals I knew in Minnesota had to deal with the conundrum that they actually agreed with the opinion written by Clarence Thomas.
We need government out of the real estate business
Mt. Holly, New Jersey
A neighborhood of lower income and middle income homes, demolished for the construction of high income condos and town houses. Eminent domain was used to purchase 400 homes, by the government, and demolished by the government, cost, over 12 million dollars (and counting). The land was flipped to the developer for a fraction of the costs the local tax payers had to pay the difference.
All of this so the local government can rob the tax payers, who got the contracts for demo? The mayor’s brother, of course.
Let us not forget that RI also makes it impossible for the average person to get an LTC. I had an entertaining conversation with then-AG Whitehouse about why he didn’t think I was fit to get an LTC for RI.
I notice you left out Maine.
While I agree with the Kelo decision that a local government stealing the land did not technically violate the Constitution, the theft was certainly immoral. I am glad that the development failed.
So does United Airlines. They don't send first class class luggage straight to their warehouse in Chicago, just economy class.
