If you can’t function without having the govt pay for your mental shortcomings, you’re mentally disabled. And should not be able to buy firearms. Using SSI criteria is putting the definition off onto people who, true or not, claim they can’t function to the extent taxpayers have to support them. It’s actually a pretty neat idea.
But what about people who are disabled for a physical problem that also get treated for depression?
Many folks are prescribed SSRI drugs as a precaution when diagnosed with a debilitating condition. What if the government decides they are “mentally ill”?
My copy of the second amendment does not exclude crazies or even freed felons from the right to keep and bear arms.
