No not a parody. I’ve heard this elsewhere, that Eskimo is at the least, an outdated archaic term, and at the worst, racist and bigoted.
I’ve also heard we aren’t supposed to talk about American Indians anymore. We are supposed to say “native American” or refer to the specific tribe involved, such as Navajo or Cherokee, rather than calling members of the tribes “Indians”.
It’s hard to keep up with all the politically correct terminology.
The term “homosexual” is supposedly verboten now too. You are supposed to say “gay” or “lesbian” but not “homosexual”.
So now we can expect people to get tripped up in referring to Eskimo people.
And look for campaigns against the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League. Look for pressures to change that name.
As long as America is a free society...this infringement on the First Amendment deserves the trash basket.
Oh...but now, the word 'queer' is ok? That's what they call themselves. So does this mean that the word 'n!gg3r' will eventually de rigueur?
But the usual suspects still use the term "homophobic." When are they going to stop being haters and discard that hateful term? (smirk)
