Why I Support Ted Cruz
PJ Media ^ | April 17, 2016 | Roger Kimball

In his 1944 opus “Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Positive,” the philosopher Johnny Mercer provided some bracing imperatives that, rightly understood, explain why I am supporting Ted Cruz for the presidency of the United States.

“You've got to accentuate the positive,” Mercer argued.

Eliminate the negative

Latch on to the affirmative

Don't mess with Mister In-Between.

Quite right. These imperatives, while not quite categorical, are sufficiently compelling to command our attention. Ted Cruz is the only candidate who accentuates the positive, who latches on to the affirmative.

1. Executive power. Even many ardent supporters of President Obama have been taken aback by his style of governance, which has increasingly relied on two extra-constitutional expedients: a) executive diktat and b) regulatory hypertrophy.

Regarding the first: Every president, on taking the oath of office, promises to “preserve, protect, and defend” the Constitution and “faithfully execute” the laws. But Barack Obama has conspicuously failed to do this. Item: When enacting some provisions of the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare) turned out to be politically inexpedient, Obama simply declined to enforce them, “legislating,” as one report put it, “from the White House.” Item: When the state of Arizona sought to enforce immigration laws that were on the books but that Obama did not like, he ordered Border Patrol agents to ignore the law. This is just the beginning of a very long list....

All good con men do that...

Well then Ted Cruz isn't even good at being a con man, though he tries, of course.

Ted Cruz has been nothing but negative for the last 2 months. He can't string together 2 sentences without attacking Donald Trump hysterically. No matter what question is being asked, or what topic is being discussed, he immediately pivots to "attack Trump".

I guess that's because, policy wise, Cruz and Trump overlap quite a bit, and areas where they don't (TPA, for example, or the Corker Bill) aren't ones that Cruz wants conservatives to focus on any way.

Vote Trump

Cruz didn’t even bother to come out of the gate with the policies he is trying to push now. He saw trump was successful and copied him

Why would Cruz be running for President if he were a conman?

He has a safe seat in the Texas Senate for life. He could wheedle millions out of the Texas sheeple by just saying bad things about Ryan and McConnell. And if Hillary won, he would be swamped in cash.

De Lay turned out to be a phony, but he was smart and stayed in the House so he got a good long ride.

Ralph Reed had a really good ride as the head of the Christian Coalition, but then he got in bed with De Lay and his goose was cooked.

So please can anyone tell me why a successful conman would run for President when he had already struck gold becoming a Senator?

You were asked on 7 April 2016 if you made the claim prior years Obama wasn’t eligible based on foreign birth. You said NO!!!
