Hell NO!! The Navy had/(has?) a system for the naming of ships that informed all of us as to what the ship was. Carriers, battleships, subs, cruisers, tin cans and so on. Any time we heard a ship’s name, the type was instantly id’d.
Corrupting a proud tradition is P.C. Crap. Naming a ship after a president....OK kinda. After a political hack who clung to a seat in Washington....no way.
Not all that long ago, there was a possibility of dropping the traditional “white hat” uniform to blues of more “normal appearance”. The enlisted men absolutely didn’t want the change.
Army, Marines, Mavy, Air Force, and Coast Guard...each branch has deeply rooted and proud traditions. And for a good reason. Let them alone.

Uh, USS Ceasar Chavez? Well actually it’s the ‘USNS’ and he did serve in WW II. So, who knows. How about the USS Ted Kenndy with a hard list to port?
