While speaking to a crowd and referring to notes in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, Trump strangely asked hows Joe Paterno? And even mentioned bringing him back.

If you have the skill and desire to use it, how has Trump been immune? He throws you high fast balls over the middle with regularity. You should be having more fun than Babe Ruth at a home run contest...
EXACTLY! This venue was on the Pitt campus, and he’s talking about JoePA? that’s an even bigger faux pas than wondering if he knew that the guy was dead! Full disclosure I’m a Pitt alumnus.
It would be easy because Trump tends to elide entire thoughts when he is speaking and it is easy to isolate odd sounding statements from their context. It’s a kind of verbal shorthand that we all use but it can be fodder for opponents when you are a candidate.
In the Paterno example his meaning can be made to sound like he doesn’t know that Paterno is dead, that’s he’s endorsing pedophilia, or as our amateur Alzheimer’s diagnostician insists that he’s on the road to dementia. I remember the press trying the same thing on Eisenhower, but in Ike’s case he used it to his advantage, see Fred Greenstein’s Hidden Hand Presidency.
He was referring to bringing back his statue.
Lol
He said it last night in his "family" town hall.
Were people invited? It was a campaign event.
It was his Anderson Cooper family town-hall event.
So? If Cruz said something this odd in his family townhall, you would have posted links to those stories.
I doubt Trump would have a reason to know what happened to Joe Paterno. Billionaires focus elsewhere.
On making “mountains out of mole hills”:
I do not fault you in any way. You are presenting the facts of the matter. I am against politicians—even Trump—who put their opponent under the microscope to find any little “mole hill” to make “mountains.” I would also say, any of “our” candidates who learn how to navigate through the “mole hills” their delegate opponents throw at them will be well schooled on how to fight the Democrats. The Democrats, with their allies in the media, will be using the microscope and will be throwing out the “mole hills” in spades.
But I can’t post something about Trump?
Yes it was, here’s the transcript;
T. CRUZ: He would be someone that you would be a fool not to look at seriously. He’s very, very talented. And, you know, you asked if Marco and I are friends. Let me tell you a story.
So last year, I wrote a book called “A Time for Truth.” And in the book, one of the chapters is talking about the year I spent as a law clerk at the Supreme Court. And it describes — the chapter begins with me watching pornography on the Internet with Sandra Day O’Connor, which was a bit of a bizarre experience.
(LAUGHTER)
It was the first of the Internet porn cases to go to the court, and the court librarians were showing the justices what the Internet was, and they’d pull it up, and the story I told, I was clerking for Chief Justice Rehnquist. They paired the chief justice and Justice O’Connor and their law clerks were in this little room looking at this computer screen that pulls up hardcore porn. And Justice O’Connor — I still remember, she leaned forward and she squinted and said, “Oh, my!”
But the Marco piece of this — so the book comes out and there were some — you know, reporters thought that was a funny story, so they wrote about that story. And I’m on a plane and Marco texts me and says, “Holy cow, you watched porn? Our oppo researchers missed that.”
(LAUGHTER)
Now that was funny. And listen, he’s got a good sense of humor. I laughed when he sent that text.

What’s interesting is that he said he and Marco are friends - hmmmm, Marco was the one who make the foolish comment about Trump’s hands. Birds of a feather?? Say inappropriate things at inappropriate times??
