He can win all the votes he wants, but if he has not mastered the delegate strategy, he’s going to loose out. He could win a majority of the popular vote in the general, yet lose the electoral college and thus the presidency. No sense in crying. Them’s the rules. Want a different outcome? The spirit behind the rules is that candidates drop out when they know they can't win the majority, not stay in to make the nomination go to the convention.
