With all due respect, can we tone down the hyperbole on FR? When one of the bottom tier ex-candidates endorses one of the other candidates, it is not a HUGE announcement.
While these types of things are subtle, they are more important than you are giving them credit for. The never-Trump movement depends upon solidarity amongst republicans, since each member of the never-Trump movement is taking significant risk with respect to their voting base. Each reasonably prominent Republicans who slips out of the never-Trump movement makes it more likely that an additional one will leave. Once it hits a tipping point, the never-Trump movement is over, and the country club republicans and neo-conservatives lose their grasp on the republican party, hopefully for a very long time.
Incidentally, this is why it is reasonably big news, even if it wasn't an endorsement. The never-Trump movement is materially weaker than it was earlier today, if this is true.
Not as huge as a Clinton indictment, but not minor, either.
