On Friday night, Northern Iowas Paul Jesperson made a shot that nobody ever makes to send his team to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Two days after the Panthers sunk that miracle buzzer-beater from half-court, Northern Iowa got sunk by the greatest-slash-most-horrifying comeback in the history of March Madness and probably in the history of college basketball. The only consolation for the Panthers: The game was on truTV, so a total of eight people probably saw it happen.
With 44.3 seconds to go in the second half, Northern Iowas Jeremy Morgan made two free throws to give the Panthers a 69-57 lead over Texas A&M. With 36 seconds remaining, the Aggies Alex Caruso missed a three-pointer.
By this point, Seth Davis had uncapped his Sharpie, and the FiveThirtyEight game probability game calculator gave Northern Iowa a greater than 99 percent chance to win.
But then the Aggies started to make like Bernie Sanders in Michigan.

A bunch of other weird stuff happened in overtime and double overtime, including Northern Iowas Jesperson taking and missing another potential half-court buzzer-beater in an attempt to become the college basketball equivalent of Johnny Vander Meer. But after a bunch of made and missed shots and other normal-ish things that tend to happen in basketball games, Texas A&M won 92-88. Commence mocking Seth Davis.

Aggies do know how to party....my bucket list for 2017 includes a trip to Kyle Field
This has been a very interesting March Madness indeed!
This has been a very interesting March Madness indeed!
‘Madness’ indeed that people are being distracted by this nonsense instead of paying attention to the destruction of our country...
Hardly.
All that poor kid had to do was throw the ball down in the other side of the court and they could never have tied it. Instead he threw at the guys feet and missed and the guy laiad it in with 1.5 seconds left.
The problems of the country will be there once the fun has ended.
Bread and circuses.
Having flashbacks to UNC-Duke 1974 when UNC came back from 8 down with 17 seconds left to beat Duke.

How about that people would like to take an occasional, momentary break from political crap?
Nothing wrong with taking a much needed break.
Yes, because everybody should be serious all the time and never have any fun...right? Hey you Badgers GO!!!!!!
Love it!
That's right! (Now that UConn is out)
I hate I missed this one!
Good to see the U.S. Reed shot back in the 70s mentioned. Arkansas beats Texas at home with half court shot with 1 second left.
