I think Cruz is getting a head of himself.

He did not win a single State last night, and Crus is talking about VPs?

He might as well be talking about picking his assistant astronaut for his mission to Mars...both are about as likely.

Cruz played statistical shells with the listeners last night. He said something like “I just need to get 55/45 split in the remaining states.”

The truth is that he needs something like 80-85% of the remaining delegates to win. That is not very likely.

But, as he says, if he gets 55% of the vote in all the remaining states to Trump’s 45%, then he wins.

That’s how he sees his path to victory.

What it doesn’t do is consider the delegate count necessary to win. He couldn’t break 50% in his own state, and the direct vote has NOTHING to do with dividing the spoils of a victory. The direct vote is the direct vote. He did not break 50% in Texas.

Exactly. By Cruz staying in the race at this point he is guaranteeing a brokered convention in which no outsider wins. He is cutting off his nose etc
