VANITY: Kentucky Caucus - very very busy!

Posted on 03/05/2016 9:25:38 AM PST by the_boy_who_got_lost

At my local caucus location today here in Lexington KY there were hundreds of people voting.

The guy who I got my ballot from said it was even busier earlier. He didn't know how many people had voted at the time but he estimated a couple thousand. I voted at 11:15AM.

Only took me 5 minutes to vote because of the great organization.

You can only vote between 10AM and 4PM.

My Kansas vote looked similar. We had long lines.

You don’t have to sit around and actually caucus? Just vote and leave?

My wife arrived at the caucus site here in Louisville before they opened at 10 am, and she said the line was going down the street. She said it was a disaster, because the county/state party volunteers didn’t have a clue what they were doing. Guess I will find out when I get there ni a couple of hours.

Yes, you just walk in and vote, and then can leave. It’s technically a primary, but I guess they are only calling it a caucus because it’s being run by the state GOP, rather than board of elections. The only difference I have heard of, is that candidates’ volunteers can electioneer just a few feet away from the voting booth.

I don’t think those big lines are coming out for Cruz.

It’s just like the rallies.

GOP isn’t really holding caucuses this year. It is against party rules.

It is a straw poll and they call it a caucus.
Yes, they elect local delegates later ... but those delegates have no say or little say on the National RNC delegates.

Just vote and leave.

Another friend of mine went to caucus in another part of Lexington and for her the lines were long and there were hundreds of people there as well. She went around noon.

Something that will probably affect the election a little bit here in Lexington is the Wildcats are playing their last game of the season right now downtown @ Rupp.

People are SO into basketball I’m sure quite a few skipped voting to go to the game.

What dirty nasty cheater organized the alphabet? lol

The order of the ballot is alphabetical by last name listing those who have not dropped out yet first.

Makes sense if you ask me.

There were a lot of Rubio and Cruz bumper stickers there.

Not a single one for Trump. Though I don’t doubt that Trump will win Lexington as it’s a liberal city.

Except for Lexington and Louisville Kentucky is very conservative/libertarian.

Please...give us a break! Yes, Trump should have been first because his voters need some help finding his name...I heard a rumor that Trump voters can get a big crayon to fill in the Donald’s oval cause most of them never took the SAT! /s
