Marco Rubio backers had been hoping after two debates in which Rubio and Ted Cruz tag-teamed Donald Trump and played rather nice together that Cruz would take a pass on campaigning in Florida in order to give Rubio a better chance of winning his first primary election. The polls, for what they are worth seem to make this feasible:

Florida is a closed primary state which means that many of the independents and disaffected blue-collar Democrats who have helped out Trump will not be allowed to vote. And, as we saw on Super Tuesday, the polling, generally, overstated Trumps support by about four points and understated Rubios by about three points.
Ted Cruz makes play for Florida:
>>>> The Florida duel between Donald Trump and Marco Rubio has a new player: Ted Cruz.
The Texas senator has opened 10 campaign offices in the Sunshine State ahead of the March 15 primary, volunteers told the Miami Herald. The campaign confirmed the new offices Friday, including one that opened a week ago on Miamis Sunset Road and 97th Avenue.
Following a strong showing on Super Tuesday, the Cruz for President Campaign is communicating a serious commitment to competing hard in the winner-take-all Sunshine State primary on March 15th, the campaign said in a statement.
Lourdes Castillo de la Peña, a Cruz volunteer, said even if no Cruz campaign stops are announced before next Thursdays Miami GOP debate, his fervent supporters have been making voter calls and organizing teams to knock on doors. She hopes to host Cruzs wife, Heidi, in Miami in the coming week.
Manny Roman, the Miami-Dade GOP vice-chairman who was nearly kicked out of the party for publicly announcing his role in Cruzs campaign, made sure to stand just outside Rubios Miami rally Tuesday night, to remind reporters that some Cuban-American Republicans in town were backing a different senator for president.<<<<
As Ive said on a couple occasions in posts, the name of the game for Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio is not Stop Trump. That is the game a lot of pundits want to be played. Cruz and Rubio have invested a lot of time, ego, money, and credibility in another game. It is called Win the White House. You win the White House by winning delegates. Florida is a Winner Take All state. There is no reason for Cruz to give up on Florida. It isnt like Cruz voters are going to go to Rubio just because he doesnt campaign in Florida and it really isnt like Cruz and Rubio are competing for the same pool of voters. If anything, Cruz has the best chance of pulling votes away from Trump.
Never happen. Cruz HATES Trump.
You find the best graphics onyx!!!!
Love this!....
Woo Hoo....going to see Mr. Trump today!!!
My husband, who hates crowds, said it will be like Disney World.....long lines, large crowds :)
But he’s going.......he is a Trump fan too!
Cruz just hates.
Why is it every time I see Trump I think of Clyde the orange haired orangutans in the Clint Eastwood films?
I knew you were going to get hammered, so I just donated to Ted Cruz campaign. Hang in there, CW.
Good luck with that. They love Trump down here. I think Trump needs to go out on the trail with the fact check results of Teds lies.
It’s a fact. Jack. Teddy Bares are supporting a loser.

Actually we are supporting a conservative, not a blowhard conservative wannabe who is constantly walking back his statements.
[Ted Cruz Is Ready To Fight...]
So was Roberto Duran.
Although I’m a Cruz supporter, I agree that he resembles Grandpa Munster. This fact doesn’t influence me, since I want Cruz for President, not boyfriend. These constant memes depicting Cruz as Grandpa Munster are about as meaningful as Marco making fun of Trump’s spray tan. We can be more mature on Free Republic that the candidates were at the last debate.
This isn’t aimed at you directly, Danny. Nor is it aimed only at Trump supporters. It’s just sad that we can’t have true political discussions during primary season here at F.R.
‘I just donated to Ted Cruz campaign.’
Good; Heidi has been worried sick.
They boast about winning but act like losers.
If by some, you mean 99.9% of them than you would be correct.
The political discussion is over. It has degraded to constant regurgitation of the same arguments spun so severely that they have no resemblance to the truth.
Somehow though I had missed the Grandpa Munster comparison.
So what will it be?
Donald J. Trump or Ted Cruz?
You have to pick one.
Cruz’s wife is heavy into erasing borders and building a North American Community.

No Ted for me.
I am delighted to hear that Cruz is not going with the Romney strategy in Florida.
This means the second tier vote stays split, Trump leads now and can take Florida.
I think ads in Florida will hardly be enough to smear TRUMP into oblivion. Now, we may need to keep Beck away from him, but Romney types simply running ads is not changing minds.
Look for other dirty tricks. Have I said I can not STAND Romney?
Whoo HOO!
TRUMP 2016
