JFK honorable? Wow. The Democrat propaganda machine has done a number on you.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. JFK's father was as bent as Quasimodo's spine and his boys were no different. Read the account of Mimi Alford, a white house intern that JFK pimped out to other men, and the well known and fully verified stories about JFK's various other mistresses -- and then get back to me about how "honorable" he was.

There were irregularities in both Cook County and in Texas. You think JFK picked LBJ -- a man he genuinely despised -- because of his charm? Johnson was as corrupt a Democrat as ever worked the levers of a political machine. Kennedy expected Johnson to deliver Texas by hook or by crook, and he did, and JFK damn well knew it.

What stood out to me is in the early pages where McMasters describes Kennedy’s dismantling of the NSC structure that Eisenhower had put into place. When he did that he cut himself off from direct access to the JCS and they couldn’t warn him when he was headed for disaster. Not that JFK would have listened. He was more akin to McNamara and the Whiz Kids, whom my dad loathed with a passion. Most uniformed military at the Pentagon did.

I have three choices in this race:

Cruz: He is an obvious, proven conservative. He says what he means and he means what he says and he is obviously conservative, even if he doesn't have a pretty face.

Rubio: He is the establishment republican candidate. He is running his primary as a conservative, and will quickly veer left for the general, and is the absolute illegal immigrant candidate.

Trump: He's whatever he has to be at the time to get the support he craves. He may be convinced to be conservative, or he may be convinced to do otherwise, whatever is in his best, financial interest.

Given those choices, I choose Cruz.

Your BS, desperate citizenship schpeel is irrelevant.

Yes, but the Dereliction of Duty of the title refers largely to the JCS, whom McMasters holds fully accountable for their failure to defend both the young men who served under them and the country they'd sworn to protect. Only Curtis LeMay ever really kicked back against the idiotic ideas that the civilian leadership had about "managing" a war, and LeMay was a short-timer anyway.

You are a new member of a distinct minority, a FReeper who has ever called me "Succint." I'm not sure I can live up to your characterization but I bet I can live it down. :-)

I thought the Immigration act of 1965 was his brother Teddy’s bill/doing.

I don’t know what McMaster’s thinks that the JCS could have done about it. They didn’t set policy and weren’t invited to. McMaster’s emphasizes that military officers were too formal for Kennedy’s liking and he didn’t include them in his policy making

JFK’s new NCS structure cut the service chiefs out of the loop with McNamara and Maxwell Taylor in between them and the President.

That certainly would be a convenient excuse for you to vote for the leftist circus clown.

I get it.

Carry on, dufus.

JFK wrote a book in 1958, “A Nation of Immigrants”, and as soon as he was elected he called on Congress to revise our immigration law.

He was killed before that came to fruition but little brother Teddy saw the change through. The rest is history, as the rapidly changing demographics of the USA attest.

I am a member of no such minority.

My reference was to the post, not the poster.

As someone who has followed your FR career for some time I would characterize you as invariably "lucid," and quite often "elegant." But alas, much like myself, seldom brief.

Your reputation is in no danger. Continue to discurse at will.

It was odd that Scalia’s CPAP machine was unplugged. It was his 3rd or 4th night at that ranch. Usually, you set them up and leave them plugged in until you pack em back up.

Weird.

Thanks much, for the info. I just remember hearing Teddy’s name attached....in history class. This was before CommieCore kept that sort of lesson out of the books.

And, yes, this Act forever changed the demographics of the entire USA.

Dad’s tour there began in 1962. He said he sometimes saw what he took to be CIA operators outside of Saigon. I know that the real action was going on along the Laotian border, where we might have had a chance to halt the North’s strategic goal.

You sir, are un-informed.

Google executive order 11110.

Google 1963 united states notes 5 dollar bill

get an education.

Not only did Kennedy hate the Federal Reserve, he bypassed them. Its what got him killed.

Check up on that old book, “It didn’t Start with Watergate,” by Victor Lasky. It explains how things went down in Cook County; etc.
