At 81 years old, U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., isn't ready to call it a career.
"I feel good. I've got a lot of energy, I've got a lot of purpose, too," Shelby said during an interview last week at the Renaissance Ross Bridge resort in Hoover. "I want to be [in Washington] for a reason: To represent the people of Alabama, and I think people understand that."

This month, his campaign launched a website attacking the 33-year-old McConnell's integrity.
Shelby has been a good friend to businesses in Alabama. Even though he has demonstrated in the past that his vote can be bought, he will win easily.
The thing I like most about him is that he consistently votes on the side of conservatives.
We’ve got many that seek election and say they’ll vote conservative but don’t. Richard Shelby has proven that he will.
Jonathan McConnell is running in the primary (March 1st) against Richard Shelby.

Quote: A Christian, a conservative businessman and a Captain in the Marines who is running for the United States Senate because it is time to put an end to self-dealing ways of Washington politicians.
Aside from his unfortunate last name, I do not think he is related to Mitch up in Kentucky.
